This webinar addresses practice standards, legal and ethical considerations of evaluating and diagnosing pedophilia in clinical practice, and psychological profiles and typologies of pedophiles.

Full Description:
Pedophilia is a serious problem in the United States, yet many are in denial about the prevalence of child sex abuse. This is partially due to pedophiles being rarely identified, thus rarely diagnosed. This seeming contradiction can be explained by the fact that pedophiles usually offend against many victims before being apprehended. Many are never caught. During this webinar, practice standards as well as legal and ethical considerations of evaluating and diagnosing pedophilia in clinical practice will be reviewed. Various assessment tools and diagnostic considerations will be highlighted, including review and discussion of a clinical case example. Psychological profiles and typologies of pedophiles are provided along with an examination of the mindset of pedophiles and their behavioral patterns to help mental health professionals recognize, evaluate, and diagnose pedophilia in a clinical setting.
