Measure your agency’s efforts at engagement and retention against proven, evidence-based strategies.

Full Description:
Length of stay in treatment has been consistently associated with better outcomes. Simpson et al. (1999) concluded that a minimum of 90 days is necessary to obtain significant benefits. Many clients who drop out of treatment do so in the first few weeks. The Institute of Medicine assigns blame primarily to ineffective programming processes, and suggests that corrective action to improve engagement and retention rates must be an agency-wide effort.

This webinar takes a closer look at the factors contributing to engagement and retention, including social functioning, emotional and physical health, timing of access to services, and an agency’s model for welcoming clients. Dr. Dyer emphasizes a collaborative approach, in which the client’s motivation for recovery is closely linked to his/her experiences throughout treatment.
