Description:

Spine surgery is complex and time intensive for the surgeons that perform these procedures.  The coding for these service as can also be complex and time-consuming and it is critical that everyone involved has an understanding of the documentation necessary, and the proper assignment of CPT® and ICD-10-CM codes to ensure that the maximum possible reimbursement is received for all procedures that are performed.

•  Utilizing the proper CPT®, ICD-10-CM, and appropriate modifiers can make the difference in payment vs. denial. 
• The way that a claim is coded describes the service and special circumstances that are present when there are complications from prior treatment. 
• In this conference, we will use real examples of spine surgery the documentation to understand how we report the appropriate information on the claim for payment the first time. 
• We will also review the most common denials and errors in reimbursement to give tips on how these should be appealed to insurance carriers.
