Session Overview : Ever since the Quality Payment Program was launched in 2017, there have been incremental updates each year to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs) tracks with the aim of reducing the burden and improving patient outcomes. The 2020 performance period of the Quality Payment Program builds upon the foundation that has been established in the first 3 years of the program and provides a trajectory for clinicians moving to performance-based payments, and gradually prepares them for the 2022 MIPS performance period of the program and the 2024 MIPS payment year.
