Overview: Project teams require effective management so they can accomplish the goals of the initiative assigned. Many of the teams we are assigned to lead are not comprised of individuals who report directly to us. Therefore, telling them what to do and when to do it does not work! Effective team leaders have the ability to build strong relationships with the team members, collaborate with them to assign roles and responsibilities on the team, and engage them from the very beginning through to completion of project. They collaborate with the team to put formalized processes and procedures in place in order to accomplish the goals of the team and enable for effectiveness in managing any conflicts that arise, resolving problems and ensuring quality of the work effort.

But, maybe even more importantly, the best team leaders share the leadership role! They realize that the team has skills, expertise and knowledge that they do not have and the most successful team leaders rely on that knowledge and expertise of others to accomplish the goals.

Teams today also tend to be working remotely since many of today's organizations have remote workers. This means, of course, that the team leader needs to enable for collaboration when team members are not face-to-face for every meeting. Utilizing technology to enable for collaboration will be covered during the webinar.

This webinar will provide best practices and tools and techniques for managing project teams to accomplish goals - whether the team is co-located or members are working remotely. Best practices from learning how to engage the team members from the early stages of the project through to collaborating with them on accomplishing the tasks required and keeping them engaged as the project progresses will be shared. The stages of team development will be discussed along with the team leader's role and responsibilities at each stage.

Attendees will leave the webinar with a variety of best practices, tips, tools and techniques they can apply immediately managing project teams.

Why should you attend: Except for the rare occasion, every initiative launched within an organization requires working with a project team. Whether the project is small or a larger, complex initiative, the most effective individuals within the organization have the skills needed to lead and manage project teams to meet the goals of the initiative.

The ability to manage a project team is an essential skill regardless of your role within an organization. Developing this skill requires understand how a team moves through the stages of development and what the role of the team leader is in each of those stages. It also requires understanding how to engage individuals to come together as a team to accomplish what needs to be done. Often this is required when you will have no formal authority over the individuals who are on the team. The team will not do what you tell them to do simply because you are designed the leader of the team! You will need to engage them to come together to support the initiative.

This webinar will provide you best practices and tools and techniques for managing project teams to accomplish goals; from learning how to engage the team members from the early stages of the project through to collaborating with them on accomplishing the tasks required and keeping them engaged as the project progresses, even when difficulty arises on the project.
