The provision of paid sick leave to employees is presently mandated by sixteen states and the District of Columbia. Additionally, 14 states are considering enacting laws soon, and 24 municipalities mandate paid sick leave for employees. It appears that the passage of a federal law requiring paid sick time is imminent.
