Overview:
EMC testing is mandatory in order to sell locally and globally. It is important for everyone involved in any aspect of product design to understand the basics of EMC. We will begin with a brief overview of the EMC market, standards, and test equipment. We will also take a look at the theory of operation of a modern EMI receiver and other EMC equipment. Finally, we will look at key receiver specifications and then walk through the steps to making an emissions measurement.

Engineers, technicians and students new to EMC measurements or those needing a refresher on the basics.

Matthew Carter is a product support engineer working in Keysight Technologies’ Microwave and Communication Division. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University. He is currently focused on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and vector signal analysis.
