How do these children attach to their caregivers? Play therapists need to answer this question before trying to build effective treatment plans.

Full Description:
Children are often provided individual and group play therapy services dependent on their presenting issues/diagnosis(es) reported by the caregiver. However, the relationship between the caregiver and child can sometimes be part of the problem. Research (Martin, Snow, Sullivan, 2006) states that if the clinician does not assess the attachment style of the child-caregiver relationship prior to initiating services, the child may attach to the therapist.

The goal of this webinar is to enable clinicians to properly assess the attachment relationship between the caregiver and child prior to beginning play therapy services in order to determine the security of the relationship. Dr. Dugan will demonstrate how to use a decision tree model to build treatment plans that best fit the results of the attachment style assessments.
